The short answer
An unweighted GPA uses the same base grade points for every course. A weighted GPA adds a bonus for recognised advanced courses such as Honors, AP or IB. The exact bonus and maximum scale are set by the school.
What changes the calculation
Because schools weight courses differently, a 4.3 or 4.5 weighted GPA cannot be interpreted without its profile. Report both weighted and unweighted results and keep the selected bonus values visible.
Use the right calculator
My Grade Finder calculates both outputs from the same course list, making it easier to spot whether a difference comes from grades, credits or course level.

Understand what course-level bonuses change—and what they do not. Replace the example values with your own and keep the active profile visible.
